How many modern homo sapien generations have existed?

I'm curious to know if there is any accurate way of determining how many generations of homo sapiens have existed through the earths history. (assuming modern homo sapien has existed at least 175,000 - 200,000 years)

  2. Generally 20 years is the assumed length of a generation, so 175,0000 /20 = 8,750 generations.

    So round it up to 9,000 or so.

  3. generations is a funny word to use. remains found that have been attached to the genus homo include ( in no order), homo antecessor, homo ergaster, homo habilis, homo floriensis, homo erectus.

    i can't remember any more

  4. A generation is 20 years, and assuming there have been 10,000 generations in the past 200,000 years, this would be a conservative estimate, because the oldest modern human skull ever found certainly doesn't imply that it was the very first human alive...
