How many moles in 1.10 g of hydrogen?

my question is since hydrogen is diatomic do i use a molar mass of 2.something or 1.something?

  1. a mole is answered in atoms unless it's a molecule and not an element that's listed.  also, remember significant figures matter. so if the question is just like you listed it (1.10g), 1.09 moles is correct.


  2. no. of moles = given mass/ molar mass

                          = 1.1/1

                          = 1.1 moles

  3. 1.1g H x 1M of H/1.008g H= 1.09 moles

  4. gas is diatomic so just use 1, unless the question say hydrogen gas  hence the answer would be 1.10 moles in 1.10 g of hydrogen
