How many moles of hydrogen gas are needed to convert one mole of ethyne to ethane?

I have been working on chemistry today for about 8 1/2 hours at this point I think my mind is on the off posistion, I should know this. any help would be nice

  1. C2H2 + 2H2 --> C2H6

    If C2H2 is 1 mole, from the reaction above we can conclude hydrogen gas is needed 2 mole.

    (Because ratio of the reaction = 1 : 2 : 1)


  2. 4 moles of pure hydrogen atoms would be needed. Or 2 moles of H2 hydrogen molecules.

    Hmmmm.  Not only in "OFF", but shutdown mode, and out to lunch.  Ok.  I'm kidding.  No reason to be insulting.
