  1. There are around 44 left today.

  2. There are currently 46. Until the new constitution in *Nepal is ratified (deposing the monarchy), I am counting it.!  I am also counting **Samoa as an elective monarchy for traditional reasons.

Here is the breakdown in type:

---*22 heriditary monarchies, constitutional and absolute

    ---**7 semi-hereditary, partially elected

---15 commonwealth monarchies (QE II as Queen)

---2 elected monarchies: Andorra, and Vatican

  3. TOO MANY.

This country should have an ELECTED head of state.

  4. Europe, Japan

  5. Interesting question as I'd never thought of it before. I know one you missed is Thailand. I only know that because their king is the longest serving monarch in history. As for the others, you may want to have a look at this.

  6. nepal was the last country with monarchy

  7. There shouldn't be any at all. Why elevate the inbred. Everyone is important - every man and every woman is a star xx

  8. I'd say 24 if you count the GCC Emirates.

UK, Spain, Netherlands, Begium, Sweden, Norway, Denmark.

Monaco and Liechtenstein (Principalities) and Luxembourg (Grand Duchy)

Jordan, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Oman (Sultanate), Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and UAE (Emirates)

    Thailand, Cambodia, Japan

    Tonga

    Swaziland

    Bhutan

    Think that's them all!
