Difficult to be exact but the cheapest and most fun way would be to buy your airfare - no hotel included and get a copy of one of the many backpacking guides available (Lonely Planet guide to Europe for example) These guides give full details on the cheapest places to stay, eat, change money and travel, and they're updated regularly by input from actual travellers who send in their comments based on their experiences. They also give advice on local phrases and what NOT to do!Go for it!

does this trip include the UK? It make a big difference!

I spent 2.5 wks in around spain, and 1.5 week in the UK. Cost about 1700euro in spain (hotel/hostel, car, food, shopping, etc.) and about 2000euro (no car, ok food, crappy b&b) in the UK (london/scotland.)

Depends I guess on what level of accommodation you want and how much you want to buy. I would recommendto budget 100 Euro per day to cover accom, eating, sightseeing. Extra if you want to buy souvenirs and alcohol.

I had a friend who went to Australia for 3 months, she spent 10,000 in total. I had another friend who went to London for co-op and stayed w/ family and then did a 30 day tour around Europe for 3, 000. so that'd be a little over 3, 000 for the whole trip. that's in Canadian funds. You can always find ways to travel cheap and save money. I'd say, have no less than 5, 000 to be safe
