How many moves in bjj?

Question

To get higher belts in bjj you need to learn moves, apply them and win with others. I guess you can only learn a lmited amount of moves.

So generally how many moves do you need to know before reaching blue, then purple etc. I know the belt will depend on application and pefromance but i'm asking about the moves. How many moves did u know before you became a blue belt? then purple, brown etc

Thats really hard to say. Do you mean finishing moves or all the stuff that ties everything together? As far as finishing moves many people only use armbar, arm triangle, foot lock and kimura. However you need to know hundreds of escapes, sweeps, techniques for changes positions, and many other things.

ah with the instructor i am under and with alot of other they dont do tests like in other arts with us it whgen your ready they may have you roll with a guy with close to your size that is already that best but it snot howmany moves you know usually

most bjj guys grade using the how well you know what you know not how much (which is what is best) they grade by rolling over the years your game gets better so you get higher they dont tend to use the xamount of technique type grading
