How many miles per gallon should a 150 hp mercury outboard motor get on a 20' key largo?

  1. on average at WOT you will burn 1 gallon of fuel per 10hp give or take 15 gallons per hour. (that is at wide open throttle). i have a 22' cc and i burn around that, that averages to 2/3 mpg.


  2. It can vary greatly depending on load, sea conditions, trim angle, and throttle position. If you run wide open expect very poor mileage, less than 1 mpg as stated above. However, backing the throttle off just 1 thousand rpm will about double your mileage. I have always told my customers 3500 to 4000 RPM is you best economy range, and you will probably get about 2.5 MPG. This also can be affected by overall engine condition, prop condition, etc.....

Hi, if you are talking about the merc tower of power in-line 6 cyl. you will need to bring along Lot's of extra fuel your question is vague as to what you have for power. the newer engines are better on gas it never hurts to have a few extra gallons until you get it figured out;) happy boating & good luck
