I am visiting Monterrey in a little bit and I just wanna get a general guideline to see if its a very violent city or not.

Hey... it's about as safe as any other large city. Behave sensibly, avoid taking taxis from the street at night (you should call one, go to a hotel, or at least go to a taxi stand) and don't be too flashy. You'll be fine! ;o)
