  1. I'm white and I listen to just about everything.  I listen to European music the most since I am from Europe (now I live in Am.)  I don't listen to rap that much cuz I don't like most of the lyrics but I listen to the roots (who I think is more hip hop) and tupac.  I really like Tupac because of the way he sings is with so much conviction.  Lots of people say that rap requires no talent but I think he has lots of talent.  I like pop, r&b, some country artists that I really admire, and jazz music, and soul.  The only thing I don't listen to that much is oldies and classical.  I listen to some Spanish music ever since I learned Spanish in school.  My blonde friend has a CD of African music with all the drums and stuff.

I think everyone likes stuff from most kinds of music and they just don't want to say or they think they need to retain their image.

  2. I'm sort of off-white/orange in colour (depending on the season) and I listen to everything from Willie Nelson to Bob Marley...but not necessarily in that order.

  3. most interesting thing about your question, is that you say you are black; which means that you are afrikan, and then make the assertion that you listen to diverse music; but, only list contemporary american music!!!

you are afrikan, but apparently have no exposure even to the full breadth of your own music (reggae, brazilian, traditional and contemporary afrikan, jazz, soul, neo-soul etc)!

simply listening to these afrikan forms of music would be far more diverse than the artists you mention who are all quite similar to a true connossieur!

the content, instrumentation and melodies of all the artists you mentioned is extremely similar culturally speaking...  it's like they are all in one family.

you haven't even begun to touch  classical rock, blues, folk, asian or eurpean techno, pop, hiphop etc. !!!

i'm guessing that you are a teenager and likely from a small town... please brotha, travel, travel and expose yourself!!!

  4. I'm white. I listen to just the same amount of hip-hop I do as rock. My favourite artists in hip-hop are Public Enemy, The Roots, Mos Def, Jay-Z, Nas, Big L, Immortal Technique, Run DMC, Bone Tugs-N-Harmony, Rakim, KRS-One, Atmosphere, Royce Da 5'9.. basically the classic/underground rap, with the odd exception of mainstream.

  5. i'll listen to anything with a good beat

  19. Manu who do you think you are?

Afrikan (supposed to be spelled afrikaner) and african are not necessarily the same thing. Afrikaner is a linguistic group. African is an enthnic group.

And you are NOT someone to define "diverse". What it means to you doesn't always HAVE to mean the same thing to another person. You're not just right.

He is diverse in the sense of music genres that are heard of the most on Y!A.

    To answer your question:

I could care less what race you were. Music is freedom, man.

  20. I'm Hispanic. I listen to Rock. The whole Hispanics listen to Rap thing is a big generalization and stereotype. I also do listen to a bit of Rap as well.
