How many numbers are in a Japanese phone number, minus area code?

Area code being city like tokyo and stuff. because i have a japanese number but idk if the area code is in there, minus the 01 and 81 the number has 9 digits do i still need to add a little city code thingg?

If it has 9 digits it already has the area code so you don't need to add anything.
