Question:

How many of Niklas Kronwall's hits are clean?

From watching highlights of his many hits throughout the playoffs, it kind of looks like a lot of them are questionable - he either has his elbow up or leaves his feet. Granted, this could just be my limited perception of those hits, so what does everyone else think?

  1. All of them. He is one punishing hitter.

  2. All of them he'll throw on Crosby...but I'll betcha he gets ejected from the game for touching him.

  3. Its all about timing. Sometimes the hi somes too quick,  and the elbows is up, or the arm is higher than it should be. There have been a few that got called, and hey were not hard to disagree with. Some players, like Kronwall, launch their bodies into the check. Thats why it seems he leaves his feet. But it is the impact of the hit itself, that brings him off his skates.

  4. 10 Years Ago They all were. Now, about 85% I'm from Detroit so it's not about being a homer. It's Just that there are not as many goons or big hitters any more because of all the new rules.

  5. A lot of open ice hits look dirty just because of momentum.  Momentum will carry a player's skates off the ice more in an open ice check.  Those are all shoulder hits.  I think he had one "dirty" one against Nashville where is elbow came up.  His hits are not dirty however because there is never any intentional elbows or other cheap shots.   A dirty hit has intent to injure or intentional elbows and forearms.

  6. most of them... and most of the ones he'll deliver on cindy will be too.

Trust me.  I busted out the calculator.

  8. I don't think any of his hits are clean. He leaves his feet and uses his elbow. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdTANySXs...

  9. 90% they show you those ones because they are questionable.

  10. is it not kronvall?

and suck a lemon. he's GOOD.

  11. I dont think most of his hits are any more questionable than players on virtually every team. We could go through the list but most everyone knows who these guys are, that is part of the allure of playoff hockey. Every hard hit is magnified because announcers are always looking for any play that they can call a game or series changing hit. The refs see just about every one of his hits and he isnt landing in the penalty box so regardless of what anyone else thinks the only guys who can decide find them to be acceptable. The hit on Lidstrom last night comes immediately to mind as being not only questionable but even dangerous and there was no call. Again the ref had a good look at it and decided it was okay and so it is. That is the nature of playoff hockey and I for one would rather see a team earn their victories with good hard hockey so not only am I okay with the no calls on every team (and Kronwall is far from the only one with questionable hits) but I am loving the tough hockey even when the rough stuff goes against my team. Lord Stanleys Cup should be earned with 16 hard fought victories so as long as the refs allow the hitting (and hopefully they see fit to swallow the whistles as long as there isnt stupid stuff going on) then I say bring it....and bring it hard and may the best (and toughest) team win!

  12. I've noticed, it looks like a lot of them he leaves his feet, but he's really not the biggest player in the NHL lol.  By leaving his feet, he's just getting as tall as the other person, or trying to lol.

Obviously, the refs don't think the majority of them are dirty or they woulda called him a lot more or Bettman woulda suspended him.

  13. About 75%

  14. I don't know about Kronwall, but I've felt the same way about Colby Armstrong's hits. I think some players flirt with the line between clean and not clean. I don't necessarily think they do it on purpose though; I think sometimes that kind of thing just happens when you play with an edge.
