  1. Actually, my mother didn't trade in suv's, she traded in sports cars.  Her favorite were Camaros.  Now she owns a kia.  I call that a downgrade.

  2. Probably less then 10 percent because the value of the SUV is depressed at this moment, so the trade in value is alote lower then then the Book value, so the seller in is the hole greater in the trade in.

And doing the math the SUV will be cheaper in the long run to keep, because the vehicles which get good miles per gallon are inflated in price.

  3. I traded in my 07 Impala 3.9L V6 for an 08 Sentra. Not that it didn't make a huge impact in my life, but I have seen a dramatic increase in mpg's. The problem was in trading it. The Impala is so common & is considered a fleet car, that they saturate the used full size car market. You can go to any Chevy dealer & find one used. After 16 months of owning it, the value was less than what I expected. However, there is no difference in monthly payments because for the 1st time ever in owning a car, I took out a 48 mo. loan over the 60 mo. loan. Actually, it's $9 cheaper per month. But I got a much better interest & I will pay the car off sooner. I rarely pay off a car anyway, but I figure that it's time for me to grow up & think further ahead. So I will pay this one off. It's really nice & I made sure that the Sentra I got, had the toys that I wanted. This way it gives me a better reason to keep it. Plus it gets 37 mpg on the hwy. I'm a fairly conservative driver anyway. I put a pic of it on my 360. G'day!

  4. I'm sure the resale or trade in value for suv's have plummeted due to the recent butt raping the oil companies are giving the driving public!

  5. well i just bought a truck,  even with the oil prices high it has not impacted as much as i would think on sales of trucks and suv

long term they will go down if fuel prices remain high which they obviousley they are
