  3. over exageration only 2 or 3 who wernt born in new zealand but they moved to new zealand at a very young age there was only 5 island players in the starting line up in the game vs france and muliaina soialo and collins were all born and bread in new zealand im sick of people saying new zealand are poachers if you had to play for your country of birth aussie wudnt have tuqiri gregan france wouldnt have betsen and thers alot more other teams who would be without players

  4. Out of the 30 players in the All Blacks World Cup squad, there are 8 players who were born in Samoa, Fiji and Tonga, the rest of the Islander players were born in New Zealand.   The 8 moved here with their families as children for better education and lifestyle.  They have also lived and played provincial Rugby in New Zealand before becoming All Blacks.  Polynesians that are born here or grew up in this country are all New Zealanders.

Here are the overall Stats for the 2007 World Cup Rugby teams that have players not born in the country they represent:

    1. Italy - 15

    2. Samoa - 14

    3. USA - 12

    4. Scotland - 10

    5. New Zealand - 8

    6. Australia, Wales - 7

    8. Japan - 6

    9. England, France, Ireland, Namibia - 4

    13. Canada, Portugal - 3

    15. Argentina, Fiji, South Africa, Tonga - 1

    19. Georgia, Romania - 0

The list below shows players from their country of birth who are playing for overseas teams in the World Cup.

It clearly shows that there are more New Zealanders playing for other overseas teams in this years World Cup.

    1. New Zealand - 27

    2. South Africa - 16

    3. England - 13

    4. Argentina, Tonga - 8

    6. Fiji, Samoa - 5

    8. Australia, France - 3

    10. Canada - 2

    13. USA - 1

  5. "Cruzy p" needs to check his facts before posting.......

  6. I think simply including players who were born overseas is a bit of a misnomer.

Many of the AB’s grew up in NZ and went to primary or at least secondary school here.

Jerry Collins was born in  Apia but the boy grew up in Waitangarua.

  7. 8 of Samoan decent

    2 of Fijian

    1 Tongan.
