Think about the odds of having multiples. For twins, it's about 3%. The odds of conceiving triplets naturally is around 1 in 8100, and the odds of conceiving quadruplets naturally is around 1 in 729,000. Granted, I know that most of the higher order multiple pregnancies these days are a result of fertility treatments, but even so, the odds of conceiving triplets on fertility drugs is approximately 1 in 700 (and of course, the odds of having quadruplets or more is even more remote).

And yet, it seems like one out of four posts here asks about "what to name my twins/triplets/quadruplets/etc." Yes, I am sure that some of them are legitimate, but there is no question that the percentage of people who post here claiming to be expecting multiples (particularly the claims of higher order multiple pregnancies) are WAY beyond the percentage of women who actually conceive and give birth to triplets or more. There are probably only 100-125 or so quadruplet pregnancies in the US per year, and y

  1. fertility treatments up the chances considerably.

fertilty problems and natch, treatment is way up.

so, the odds have been stacked.

why would someone make this stuff up?  and, i dunno, maybe the same people keep posting about their pregnancy (it lasts 9 months, afterall).

  2. have you ever thought that maybe, just maybe, people don't ask as many questions when they are having just one.

Twins/triplets/quads are much more difficult to look after, so the parents need all the help they can get! With a single pregnancy, it's still difficult, but when mums-to-be are pregnant with more than one baby, they tend to ask MORE questions than those who are just pregnant with one.

I know if i was having a multiple i would be asking so many questions, people would be getting so annoyed with me.

Also, maybe these 'liars' have spent years trying to find the one to settle down with and have that wondeful family they have always dreamed of, and didnt. Maybe they want their dream family, even if it is a fantasy.

If you don't like these questions about multiple pregnancies, dont answer them!

  3. I asked a question like this a while back! I know multiples are on the up due to fertility treatment and older parents concieving, but most the questions are just people thinking of baby names. look in pregnany section, theres hardly any about multiples, where most the problems would be if you ahs triplets etc on the way, naming them would be your last worry!

  4. for twins about 3/4 are telling the truth as for the rest maybe 10 people didn't lie

  5. I agree. I know I've answered many questions only to find out later that my honest opinion was for some teenage child who just likes to fool around on the computer making up stories, and wasting other people's time. It doesn't make any sense to ask what other people like of a name if the name isn't going to be used or will most likely be changed in the next few years anyways. For those that are actually having twins and triplets I feel for them. Having multiples is hard and finding names that work can be difficult as well, but for all those out there who are just bored and making up names PLEASE STOP!

  6. I dont think that that many people here could be having twins...

I am sure they have good reason for asking their questions...

Maybe they just are curious as to what name people would like best. Who knows. doesn't really matter to me.

  7. very little. I mostly think the posts come from preteens.

  8. i know i'm not having twins :)

i'm 15 years olddd man, but

my person on sims 2 is , & i have no idea for names

    (:
