  1. 17. You'll have a little left over. You can use 16 if you aren't completely fencing in the acre (opening for driveway etc).


  2. Thanks, Bob.  I can't believe how often questions like this get asked.

    For example, if the lot is 10' wide then an acre is 4356 feet deep and you would need 175 of them.

  3. An acre is a measure of area.

    The amount of fencing that you'll need will depend on its perimeter which, in turn, will depend on how the acre is laid out.

    Is this acre of land roughly square or is it more rectangular in shape?

    If it's an exact square, each side would be approximately 209 feet long meaning that you'd need 836 feet of fencing to completely enclose it.

    That would be 17 of those 50 foot sections from Lowes, leaving you a few feet extra.

    If the plot is a long, thin rectangle, it would take quite a bit more fencing.
