  1. 50

  2. maybe 10 players

  3. If the historical trend holds true, a little less than 1%.

Since there are 750-800 players on the major league active rosters and disabled lists, figure that 5-8 players in the 2008 season will someday win election.

  4. Greg Maddux

    Randy Johnson

    Frank Thomas

    Manny Ramirez

    Ken Griffey Jr.

    Mariano Rivera

    Jim Thome

    Albert Pujols

    Ichiro Suzuki

    Gary Sheffield

    Alex Rodriguez

    Ivan Rodriguez

That's all I can think of right now

  5. Chip is a little off, I think.  It is more like about 2% of guys who get more than a cup of coffee.  That would put the number at about a dozen plus.

However, it is safe to assume that 2 or 3 are so new that they are not even on our radar yet.

I must add that Chip almost always has intelligent and thoughtful answers, so he may be right.
