  1. Evolution is clearly the scientifically validated position.

But you are over-simplifying the dividing lines.

    >"Christians say that the world was 'created' by a God?"

True, but it is only a minority of (rather vocal) Christians who deny evolution.  The Catholic church ... home to over 1.1 billion of the world's 2 billion Catholics does not deny evolution.   And here is a letter signed by over 11,000 Christian clergy members in support of evolution:

    >"Darwin says otherwise. "

Darwin never said anything about the world not being created by God.   Darwin was a believer in God.   All he said was that evolution has a clear *mechanism* in nature that explains the origins of all modern species from older species.  But nowhere in this does it deny a Creator.

My point is to be careful with drawing an "either-or" line between evolution and the idea of a Creator.   The people who call themselves "Creationists" like to draw this line ... and have thus aligned themselve is direct opposition with modern science.  But that is precisely their mistake.   They have taken over the word "Creationism" to mean something very narrow and simpleminded ... that the only way to understand creation is as the *LITERAL* reading of the events in the Book of Genesis.  This is a very narrow, restrictive view of how an all-powerful Creator can operate.

  2. I just want to say that I agree with secretsauce.

  3. At the last count, 50 miilion of us in this forum understand the facts (not beliefs) about evolution and one or two in this forum believe in creationism. Funny, it is only the bible that stops the creationists accepting evolution. Poor things.

  4. People may..."say" what they will. It is not required that anybody agree with evolution, or that the earth rotates Eastward on its axis, or that the earth and the remainder of our solar system is about 4.5 billion years old.

No one has to believe in any of these things...they are facts, real, actual immutable by belief systems.

What does require belief (because it has not one proof working for it) is creationism, or its new name "intelligent design". This is a belief system and requires believing something without evidence; in this you must believe, if you will.

    I won't.

  5. You can say that Christians may accept evolution but clearly it becomes problematic with a strict interpretation of the Bible.  Evolution is a theory that is proven to the point that it is no longer with any reasonable doubt.   It is on par with the theory that the Earth is not flat.

  6. I believe that God created the world and the creatures weren't that good enough yet, so time to time they evolve into something new, less than themselves. That's a theory I'm working on!

  7. Darwin says no such thing.

Evolution does not attempt to answer the origins of universe, Earth or life itself.  It ONLY claims to answer how life diversified over the eons

chas_chas_123>  Your "facts" are all wrong.  You cannot debate matter seriously if you don't even understand it and you are throwing Big Bang, Abiogenesis and Evolution into a blender and calling it all Evolution....3 seperate ideas of astrophysics, chemistry, and biology.  Until you understand what Evolution actually says you are not even trying to be rational.  FYI genetic mutation has been documented to add info..by duplicating DNA twice, DNA fragments being absorbed by cells and get meshed into host DNA like when a virus tries to inject DNA and something goes wrong..it happens, has been seen..so that idea of yours is 100% invalid

  8. My opposable thumbs point up for Darwin.

Unimaginably slow process isn't as showy as (POOF!) magic, but it's much more likely.

  9. Evolution.. its not rational to believe that we all are relatives (adam/eve)

  10. dude...

creationists believe the earth is 6000 years old...

they once thought the earth was flat and it was the center of the universe and punished some of the greatest minds like Galileo because of their hypocritical beliefs...

they think dinosaur fossils aren't real or they dont prove anything

they think radiocarbon dating is a waste of time...

they think that DNA is considered "satanic" by some...

yet they have no proof that this "god" even exists...

there are tons of proofs of evolution...

    good example is the whale

they are the only sea creature that is a mammal.

when they swim, their vertebrae moves up and down just like a mammal does and the most important is that they have a pelvis which proves that they were once a land creature that evolved into a sea creature...

another example is the finches at the Galapagos Islands. They all are the same species but different beaks to adapt to their environments.

And there is also genetic drift and natural selection which all aren't theories anymore...

    evolutionary biologists have proven it

  11. It is not rational to believe that life arose from non-life.

It is not rational to believe that mutations can drive upward evolution, when all observed mutations are information neutral or lossy.

It is a shame that evolutionists are so unwilling to engage with all the evidence.

Creation is a far superior explanation of the evidence.

I have yet to see a single bit of evidence that is not better explained by the creation model.

The endless "evolution is science, creationists are stupid" rants are very tiresome. Let's discuss the actual evidence.

Evolution is no less religious than creation. *All* ideas about origins are held by faith. Noone was there to observe the origin. Speculations about the past are based on assumptions, and evidence we all share in the present.

Evolutionists tell us that dinosaurs died out 65 million years ago, yet cannot explain why dino bones have been found with blood cells. 65 million years old? Pull the other one.

  12. Why couldn't the world have been created by God then evolve into what it is today?

Those who insists on a strict interpretation of the text are fools.

  13. We use the evolutionary process to create anything.  So we figure, according to the Bible, that some Creative force we name "God" evolved us into what we are.  You need to read the Bible with a different set of eyes, a bit more mature at least enough to understand this and avoid all the pitfalls of immature understanding that leaves one with this quagmire of a stuck theory based on some childish notion and then mangled into some idea that only plugs things up and backs it all up into some thing that sounds like a good argument.  And then you look to others to respond in the same.

  14. God created us then evolution followed it.evolution is nothing but a change and everything in this universe after getting created gets evoluted every second

  15. I Beleve in creation and whould aruge with any evolutionist that wish to. Buddism is a false relgion it is a created god. but the god of the bible is not created. If you want more questions or want to discuss evolutoin emal me at whatiscreation@gmail.com

  16. Evolution. But I don't see why a supreme being couldn't have had a guiding hand in the process.

  17. You're not going to get a representative sample of users of this site, or even those who frequent this category.

But, for what it's worth, yes, I accept what the scientists say.

It's not true that all Christians reject science, BTW. Most don't.
