How many of you are prepared for the 'Big One' in Calif?

What have you done to prepare? What are some of the important things people should know that they might not realize? Thanks for your help.

I'm prepared in that I never moved there.  People may not realize that there is a very high probability of the big one happening in California within the next 20 years.  I hope that all new building construction along the San Andreas fault line is earthquake proof.  Is that even possible?

I'm not an alarmist, but I  do know California will be faced with an huge earthquake. The plates want to head north easterly.  A few years back, I put together a earthquake kit in a trash can.  After a while all the can goods became outdated.  We packed lanterns, blankets, extra clothes, and etc.  Then it came to mind that we may not be able to get  to the items.  It would have to be in an open area such as the driveway.  

Our plan is to reach safety between the door jams, and try to make under our huge oak table situated in the kitchen.  My dogs are a great concern, as well as the tumbling down of the second story.
