We are. Hopefully it will not hit battered New Orleans or Mississippi like Katrina did. We live 150 miles inland in Texas so we are just hoping for some good rain since we are in a drought.

  1. I live in SETX, not sure exactly how many miles inland i am!

Im about 50 miles north of Beaumont. So I have def been watching it! I work for county government and they have all the employees on stand by to come in and work emergency management if it does come this way!

I stayed home for Rita but it was def scarey! We had gusts over 100mph and trees falling everywhere! I don't want to stay for this one but work is wanting us to :(

  2. im definitely watching gustav

i live only 15 minutes from new orleans and i dont want the same thing to happen like with Katrina.

    :[ im scared!!!!

  3. I am in Hattiesburg, Ms.  But nomatter how bad it gets here, all you will hear about is how bad New Orleans was affected.

  4. I am watching! I live in MS close to Jackson and we were greatly torn by the route Katrina took. GOD BLESS! and please pray for all that will be effected!... Hope you get a good rain!

  5. I live in Gulfport Mississippi and we are getting the h**l out of here Friday...  I rather be safe than sorry, not to mention that I live in a home that we purchased after Hurricane Katrina that is still not fully remodeled.

  6. I am!I live in Southeastern Louisiana, and it is expected to come here.I'm not ready to go through another Katrina. My family and I are going to wait one more day to see if the forcasters are clear on the hurricane's path.

They're expecting it to be 115 mph and have flood surges that reach 9-12 feet :(.

  7. We are watching. We live 45 mins from NOLA. NOLA can not take another big hit like Katrina, and I don't think it could take even a F3 Hurricane. The levee is not finished and will not be till 2011. I'm sure Gustav will set this date back as well.

Governor Jindal sent buses yesterday to start evacuating. Schools are being canceled. I'm hoping it does not hit because none of the Gulf Coast states that Katrina hit can handle another hurricane.

I wish it would lose strength and die out in the gulf but I'm not that lucky. Good luck to everyone, stay safe, and I hope no one has any damage! I'll be watching the news here in Louisiana and hoping we don't get hit!

  8. yes! we are definitely watching, every hour of the day. I live close to Jackson, MS. We have been getting prepared for Gustav, but prays that it turns and goes somewhere else. We can't afford to go thru this again. We weren't affecting that bad from Katrina, but others were.

  9. I am watching it. I am not in LA, and hope for everyone there that it does not hit there. I am also in TX, and am sure that we will at least get some rain from the system. I do have family that will have to go work to repair damage. If it intensifies like the channels say it will I am afraid that it will be bad.

  10. I live in Lousiana, about 30 miles from the Gulf or 30 miles from Grand Island. I'm watching and will decide what to do once it enters the Gulf.

  11. hopefully it won't hit louisiana, because we really cannot afford to go through that again. my whole school is freaking out about it, and we're all making "GO AWAY GUSTAV!" shirts to wear tomorrow. it's just sad because for katrina, we had to evacuate on my birthday, and now we have to evacuate again, two days after my birthday. it's just ridiculous.

    GO AWAY GUSTAV!!

  12. I think pretty much everyone is keeping an eye on it at this point.

One easy way to do so is the special section of Gustav (and Hannah) links on http://www.USAMediaGuide.com.  They have links to the projected path of the storm, local TV and newspaper coverage, the National Hurricane Center, preparation guides and other Gustav-related links.

  13. I am. I live right in the red zone. (Houston, Texas). I think the only good things that come out this storm is rain and no school. Other than that YIKES!!!!

  14. Now that you have mentioned the facts about Hurricane Gustav, I am going to watch it.  I have a friend that lives in Mississippi.  Hope he does not get hit.  It is very unlikely that the hurricane is going to hit Georgia or North Carolina (some of my family lives there).

  15. I am. I live in the French Quarter.
