im turning 26 tomorrow and completely dreading it (i used to think i would be farther along in life by now so thats why). im also realizing that im really not getting any younger...my kids are growing too quickly (i started young...me and my man had our first at 17) and everything that ive always known is starting to slowly go away. its a real bummer. anyone else feel this way?

  1. Yes it is to me-I'm 37 (will be 38 in Nov.)

  2. I agree.  Celebrating my birthday at this point is just more work than it's worth to me.

    I'm 25

  3. I turnt 16 on Aug 5th.. It was just another day to be honest. Nothing special. It was just an excuse for me to do something.. I went to the cinema to watch dark knight and a restuarant. It was okay nothing special, just another day..

    Happy bday for 2morrow.

  4. Funny enough, my 34th birthday was the only one I thought about seriously.

Otherwise every birthday is just another day.

    I am 46

  5. no i still get super excited and im like a little kid when my bday rolls around every year.

    im 20 haha

  6. No it's not another day.  It's to be celebrated, you came into the world, it's your special day.  Enjoy it.  26 is nothing.  I'm 39.  Next year I will be in tears probably.

  7. birthdays like holidays (except  halloween) are just another day to me. I just turned 50. I still put a mask on and go trick-or-treating. but you are right, what was important at a younger age is no longer important, other stuff is priority now, and the time it takes to do things seems to change also. summer used to seem 4ever now it zooms by and winter is longer

  8. yeah...i feel weird sometimes...i am 31 and i think i am so old...

  9. yeah i feel the same ....i'm 19 will be 20 in this dec.......coz instead of getting younger u get one more year older...........

  10. yes i know exactly what you mean....i just had my 34th birthday in july.....my son just turned 10 in july too.....the years do fly by to quickly......i always feel depressed when my birthday rolls around.....and i feel like i really havent accomplished anything in my life...and i feel like i am too old now to figure out what to do with my life.......seems like things were so much easier when i was younger and as the years go by it is getting harder.......i wish i was only 26..lol  well i hope you have a very happy birthday!!!! try to enjoy your day!!!

  11. my birthday is this following monday... and yes it is just another day.  i will be 37.  i think birthdays and christmas are really more for children.  once you are an adult, it is just not the same.  too bad we don't realize that we should enjoy our childhood more until it is too late.

  12. everyone has one once a year.  How big of a deal is it really?

  13. I don't, I love my birthday. It is really fun.

    Sorry that yours sucks.

What you need to realize is that you'll never be as far into your life as you wanted to be, but you are have to learn to be able to be comfortable with what you already have.

  14. i turned 16 in june..i used to be really excited..i still do but i am more grateful for everything people do to make my birthday special, i share my birthday with my dad so theres twice as much cake =)

  15. It's just another day closer to death, so live like there's no tomorrow. And treat your kids like you may not see them tomorrow. Be good to your family and friends.

  16. I'm 47 and feel the same way.Holidays and birthdays are meaningless to me simply b/c I have nobody to celebrate with

  17. I hate my birthday.

Haven't celebrated it since I was 15.  I just ask people not to do anything.  My dearest of friends do get me something small like a bottle of scotch or a new wrench or something like that but never go over the top and throw me a party.

I hate them for the same reasons as you.  I'm 24.  I grew up way to fast and have already done so much.  Yet here I am counting candles?  No thanks.  Keep the cake.

  18. 26...just another day in Paradise ♥

  19. I am a lot older then you & I can't keep my birthdays from coming every year so I just go out & celebrate ! I will be 70 next year, boo, hoo

    JMM

  20. im turning 14 and i am soo excited! I think you should be excited for what comes next not worrying about it

  21. just another day

turning 18( i know people would make a big deal about them but i HATE it when people make a fuss)

all it means is that your one more day closer to death doesnt it?

  22. same here. and I'm 20 and single.

  23. 47 and yes feel the same way

  24. i agree...birthdays aren't such a big deal to me anymore....am 23 btw...

its become just like any other day except where i take the evening off to be with my family....

    happy birthday for tommorow!

  25. No. I think everybody should be recognized on their birthday that it's their birthday. You don't have to have a blown out party, but at least a card or something.

My mom doesn't celebrate holidays(including birthdays) and it really upsets me.

For instance, this past Wednesday was my dad's birthday and I got him two birthday cards and thw whole time my mom kept repeating, "You know we don't celebrate birthdays!"

I hate how she uses "we". She doesn't celebrate holidays, and I can't really celebrate them now either because of her, but when I move out and become an adult I will be making my own decisions. I will be celebrating holidays.

I'm 15, by the way and my dad just turned 38.
