  1. I'm 21 but have only ever been to New Zealand (a 3 hour flight, not 5). As a kid, I had family holidays around Australia. I'm now planning to travel Europe and UK for a few months, just need to finish saving, I'm half way there.

  2. I have never left the country. I plan to in travel sometime in the next few years, but its no big drama.    I am middle aged now but mostly it was financial, and the fact everytime I watch the news the world gets scarier and scarier.

  3. I am 36 and have never had a reason to.  I am thinking of it now as I am getting more curious as I get older.

  4. I'm 18 and I've never left the country, but I've been all over it.

Its more due to just not bothering. We could have gone to Fiji or something for the end of year trip, but we're just going to Melbourne because its what we want-shopping.

  5. I have never left the country unfortunately. I'm 21. Most of my friends have though, the lucky buggers.

  6. Australians do travel a lot, but there are lots of people who have never left the country. because its very expensive to travel and Australia is a long way from everywhere, it takes a lot of time to fly places.

eg the closest country to australia is New zealand which is at least a 5 hour flight away.

  7. I am 50 and I have never left Australia.  I have never been able to afford to travel.

  8. Hi! I live in Tasmania and have only left my state ONCE! lol I'm 18 so i have plenty of time, but is kinda strange to my generation that i've only been out of the state once, really due to financial position, i can't just drive over the border after all! Never left the country, neither has my dad, he's 48. My mum has been to newzealand once in her life. again, it's probably because of financial position, you see we are quite an isolated country, and if  my mum left the country she'd want to go to europe.. the other side of the world!! which isn't cheap!

I suggest you go to the Australian Bureau of Statistics website (abs.gov.au) and see what you can find there!

  9. I didn't leave the country until I was 22, and that was even though I was very interested in the rest of the world, other cultures etc. So, it was mostly a financial issue.

Now I've been to over 30 countries and my four year old daughter has even been to over 20. I'm making up for lost time.

Everyone I know in my family and friends in Australia has been overseas at least once though.
