30 years ago. Glad now.  I paid cash and lived on what I made & no more, for many years. I survived, then built up my credit again, which is now excellent.  Just resolve to live within your means, you'll be o.k.

ok pay attenion on which one you do....7 or 13?  they all kill your credit for at least 5 years. LOOK nobody will rent to you....Housing Thats a big problem....you cant get a card or a CAR no Credit untill your BK is settled..  It helped me in the long run.. but it sucked Real bad for 5 years....its going to change your life... Pay your Fuctn bills. on time. pay the smalest bill first. and pay the min. on the big ones.. or learn the hard way.

yes we did--12 years ago a great new start

i guess it may have been easier to claim it then

we were out of work and were living on high rate credit cards we were able to get a secured card about 2 months after just to have for emergencies or car rentals etc. it was totally off our credit score in 7 years and the only company that gave us any trouble was sears. you need to pay for the lawyer up front in cash or money order and

So here is the deal. I myself had to unfortunately file bankruptcy a few years ago. I really hated to do it, but it worked out wonderfully for myself, and my families financial standing. Problem is, that same year, they changed the rules. Now if you make over 20,000 a year you cant file for chapter 7, and if you make under, it is so expensive you cant afford it at that income. If you feel the need to do 13 and pay back the lenders, may as well do credit counseling. ALOT less strain on your credit, same result....
