Was it helpful? My insurance pays for Childbirth classes and Breastfeeding classes. Was it a waste of time?

  1. GO! You will be glad. Mine was only about 3 hours, one-time thing. I still needed help after baby was born, but had the basic information and preparation to get started. If its free, take advantage! It might also give you ideas about where to call when you are having issues or need some problem solving after the birth.

  2. My husband and I went, and it was helpful.  It was especially helpful to have him there (although he really protested to come! all the husbands minus maybe two were there).  It was especially helpful information to have in the first few weeks.  Knowing what a good latch looks like, different kinds of positions, what you can and shouldn't eat, etc. etc.

If it's paid for, and you're considering breastfeeding, then I would say go for it.  I doubt you'll regret it.

  3. I actually just took a breastfeeding class last night. It was helpful. I have been taking a childbirth class too with my husband. Both I think are helpful for us first time moms, b/c I don't know about you, but I am pretty clueless.

  4. Yes, they were worthwhile.  Especially take your husband to the breastfeeding class.

  5. If it's paid for why not!  I didn't take a breastfeeding class, but i did sit down with a lactation consultant after my daughter was born & it was extremely helpful.  I would definetly do it!

  6. I didn't take breastfeeding classes, but sometimes breastfeeding can be very frustrating at first.  If your insurance is going to pay for you to go, I would suggest doing it.  I spent alot of time with a lactation consultant trying to get it worked out with my son.  I thought that it would happen very naturally, but until you and your child get used to the process, it can be difficult.  Finally we have everything going smoothly, but I wish that I would have known more going into it and been more prepared for the struggle in the beginning.
