So many of the answers that are factual and accurate (and not just mine) are disregarded that I am slowly beginning to feel that there is an inordinate amount of insensitivity and frivolousness in our country. So much so that we don't foresee or acknowledge avoidable crises even when they are obvious. Is there a mature and "non-moronic" approach to some of the deficits (and I don’t mean just the budget) that are all too prevalent in our great country today? And how can we get people (Americans) to respond to the challenges that face us in the manner that this country as a people dealt with true challenges in the past? I am in fear that if we as a country don't begin to take some things more seriously (as boring as that may seem or be to some) we may wake up one day and find that we don't have the influence to help guide the world on a course that is beneficial to all (from the bush people of South America and Africa to the countries with the most futuristic ambitions and abilities).
