how many of you have ever wanted to become a neurosurgeon (brain surgeon)

I know I did until I found out that you might be responsible for the death of a infant/child, mother, father, or a grandparent even if it wasn't your fault, and also knowing I'll turn into a workaholic and surviving of hospital foods, but did any of you ever wanted such a critical job like a neurosurgeon or a rocket scientist.

  1. I could never be in the medical field, I don't have the stomach for it. One whiff of any funky smell and I'd be puking all over.

  2. I used to want to be a surgeon, but like you the resposibility of maintaining human life was far too much for me in that regard.

There are many other ways for you to have your hands on brains without being a neuro surgeon.  You could be a neuropathologist for example.

  3. Never neurosurgeon, but definitely a neuroscientist. Understanding the brain is the next frontier of science. I can see how you could be drawn to a field with great responsibility along with the chance to be great. Like you mentioned though, you have to learn to accept that you will make mistakes and in such a litigious society any sort of surgeon is a risky occupation.
