  1. Parents were once teenagers themselves. Even though most of our generation's parents grew up in the 70s and 80s, they still probably fooled around with the opposite s*x, stayed up all night, went crazy with friends. I think it's kind of silly to say that parents don't understand because I'm sure they do. Some parents are scared to think that they're kids are doing the same thing they did years ago because it might have led to some serious things.

  2. i love my parents tons. but sometimes i feel they don't understand me. i am the oldest so i have a high expectancy from them. and i usually get in fights with my younger brother or sister. mostly my sister. and what happens is who ever i get in a verbal fight with they explain their side of the story. and thats the end of it. i don't get to explain. and when i try my parents will cut me off or say stop making excuses. that makes me really mad. but other than that i love them to death.

  3. Sometimes they don't understand my point of view, but I almost never understand theirs. If they have dealt with me for thirteen years and not have killed me yet(I would have by now)I have to get over it because after all they are my parents and I do love them.

  4. my mum and I are best friends. I am soo thankful that I have her!

but yea I see what you mean.. my dad does not understand me lol!

  5. my dad doesnt no me at all. im ok with my mom, but there is lotsa stuff i wouldnt tell her. i usually just talk to my friends about some problems, and others i just figure for myself.

  6. I do.

  7. Me and my parents get on really well, so I don't have your problem

  8. Definetly...

But only because we never tell them anything XD

  9. my mum dont get me, she does not even speak to me at the moment..ermm she has not said a word since Sunday and yesterday it was her b day,so i HATE my mum

and my dad,hes a idiot basically

hope ur not pissed at them after u heard this :)

  10. Why wouldn't they understand us? They were young too you know..

Everything they do is for your good, is cause they care about you, is cause they're worried about you, is cause they want you to grow up into a successful person! And if you dont see that...then you need to start seeing their side of things too

  11. everyone is different

you will have some that is the best of friends with their

    parents

and you will have some that is the worst of enemies

it all depends on them :)

  12. my mom does not understand me AT ALL

but my dad.. well he gets pretty close lol

  13. My mum doesn't understand me at all ... we argue about everything

and my dad lives in different country

  14. well it depends. ya

  15. never think in that way, parents always understood their children, they care for them , they always try to put children in good path,,,,,

my self, my parents and my little son are good friends....we love each other a lot

  16. Well I think she does, but she has got her timing all wrong. I mean my mother does have the experience of her own childhood, but in comparison to mine, I think i know a lot more stuff that she only found out when she was older than I am now, but she doesnt know that.

That makes me feel quite immature sometimes and very pissed off. Because she thinks that all of the things she figured out when she was 18 or something, I wont figure out until I'm 18. But the reality is that I know stuff wayy before I was 18. And then she thinks I am being a know-it-all little brat when I try to explain this to her. ARRGGGG!!!

That and the generation gap thing.

  17. Parents do understand, think about it, they were once your age and probably felt the way you feel now.

  18. yes, sometimes, they dont. coz they have some old beliefs that clash wid the goings-on of now, n they refuse to believe some things that v r going thru now. but most of the times they do understand us, coz well, for the simple reason, they are our parents...

  19. I think that some parents don't understand the actions behind some of the stuff that teens do, but they are likely to understand the motive behind it. I'm not explaining this all that well, but I think that parents understand us a lot more than what we can see, but we just don't want to believe that.

  20. i have a wonderful relationship with my parents, but in some point and things there are really that they don't get to understand..like the way i wear my clothes.music i listens to..generation gap, that is

  21. Every parent and child, and their relationship, will be different...but I think that often times the problem is that a parent understands more than the child realizes they do.

When I was a teenager, I definitely felt like my parents did not understand. There were a couple of years there where I had an AWFUL relationship with both my mom and dad. Now looking back, I can see they understood more than I thought or wanted to admit. Not to say that they understood everything...but they deserved more credit than I gave them.
