I'm asking because I've made reservations for a hotel room in SC and we were going to drive because 1, shopping and room to bring it back, duh, 2, sight seeing.....etc etc....

but if it's going to be way up I don't know if it'd be worth buying tickets or not?

I've watched TV about it, read about it, but I don't know if I've missed something. I'm keeping in mind that they said it'd be up to that this past summer, and that didn't happen. I know there are times its been close to $4, but that's it....

  1. 3 to 1 for it to happen :(

  2. well i think it will be $5 january 2009.

  3. Right now in California, we're seeing it at about $3.50. By the summer it'll be up to $4 without a doubt. I can guarantee it'll hit $5 a gallon sometime, somewhere but not now anytime soon. People are going to continue to buy gas because that's the one thing all of us need to live our daily lives. I think it depends on what kind of car you have. Keep in mind that you're going in the SUMMER, when it's hot. Air conditioning kills a lot of gas. Just something to think about..

  4. Air conditioning has very little effect on gas consumption in modern cars.

  5. Our gas here in Texas is 3.06-3.16. Even if it went to 5 dollars and your trip is 1000 miles, it may add about $70 to your trip. Less if your car can get over 25MPG. Get one of those European cars getting 60-70 MPG and the trip will only be an extra 30 bucks or so.

  6. I've only heard that it's supposed to be go up to $4, but at the rate it's going now, I wouldn't be surprised if it goes over.

  7. It has already been up to five dollars and more at certain places in Los Angeles area

  8. If you can afford to pay for a little extra gas, go on the trip! Life is too short! Have fun! (It should be going up to around 4 a gallon)

  9. I've only heard $4 a gallon this summer..... If your in CA it might get close to $5.... Right now in NM it's about $3.40 and holding....  Just Thank BUSH... he's taking care of his Texas Oil Buddies...

  10. Probably not, maybe $4.00.  It has not yet reached the historical maximum, which occurred in 1984

  11. i think your right

  12. I don't think it will go that high but I do think it could cross the $4/gallon mark.  I quit using gasoline 2 years ago.  I made the switch to ethanol.   It is clean burning, made in America, renewable, and using it helps our economy and creates jobs.  Using gasoline does none of those things.
