The numbers have to be very high.

I'm voting for McCain and Palin and have a brother who was 18 and unwed when his girlfriend got pregnant and a sister who was 19 and unwed to her boyfriend when they had their child.

What makes Bristol Palin different? Why is she expected to set examples? She is not running for any office. Who are we to jusge her?

Why did so many people defend Jamie Lynn spears when she got pregnant out of wedlock yet so many people rip into Bristol?

  1. No, but I AM a parent and those who ARE parents realize that we can teach them well, but, ultimately, they make their own decisions and their own mistakes. We can only be there to support them and help them when that happens.

A good friend of mine brought this home to me when she and her husband discovered he was on drugs. They brought him home and got him the best in patient and out patient services they could and he's fine now. We can imagine how hard it was for them even though they raised him well. It happens.

I am glad you, and so many others, can see this and also realize that Bristol didn't ask for this attention but sacrificed her privacy for her mother's dream. As Obama has already said, "Families are off limits," especially the children.

  2. NOPE sorry - my parents were married several years before they began having children, just like myself and ALL my siblings!

It's not the fact that the kid is having a baby - it's the fact that the mother (Palin) is trying to act like the virgin police - do what I say, not what I do type of situation!

  3. Libs will do anything to take the focus off the clear fact that Obumma is just not qualified or experienced enough to run America.  It's a smokescreen

  4. "What makes Bristol Palin different? Why is she expected to set examples?"

I strongly believe Bristol Palin is indeed setting an example!  She is setting the example of how to deal with an unplanned pregnancy.  She is showing how to take responsibility for your actions.  In choosing to have her child she is showing that two wrongs will never make a right!  She is showing, just as her mother did in choosing to give birth to baby Trig in spite of his Downs Syndrome, that a baby is a precious human being, not a blob of tissue to be sucked out of the womb if his birth is "inconvenient".

    I heart the Palins!

  5. Celebs can get away with anything & still come out smelling like a rose.  I will vote McCain/Palin.  Democraps should remember back to a "President" who was busy getting a ******** in the Oval Office!  He was married & president not a 17 yr. old girl.  Now stop picking on this youngster & worry more about the billions that obama bin biden will send overseas to countries that hate the USA & that will just turn around & give the money to terrorist!  You people are stupid that can't think of anything political to talk about except a young girl!  Grow up you Democrap Dorks!

  6. Not me I am a responsible adult that made sure I had a good job with health insurance before I proposed to my spouse and we waited until we owned a proper home before bringing our children into the world.

  7. Obama himself was the spawn of an unwed teen who was inpregnated by a married man. Ha..the irony!

  8. My nephew was born out of wedlock.  The difference is that his mother was not subjected to the national spotlight during her pregnancy.  If Sarah Palin wanted this to be a private, family issue, she would not be John McCain's running mate.  My problem is not Bristol Palin's situation.  My problem is that her mother is putting her on the world stage.

  9. Jamie Lynn Spears is a d**n celebrity, Bristol's mother could possibly run our country if McCain dies when in office, thats why.

    OBAMA/BIDEN 08

    vote smart

    vote Obama

  10. What's worse -

1.) Having a 17 year old unmarried pregnant daughter or

2.) Associating with Bill Ayers., attending a church for 20+ years with a preacher that said "9/11 was America's chickens coming home to roost", and voting against a bill that would prevent a dr. from saving a baby that survived a botched partial birth abortion?

    Hmm... tough one.

F*** Obama! Who needs that kind of change?

And I think it's funny how some ppl will go thru the answers and mark thumbsdown on anything that goes against their political party, lmao, or in some cases just anything! I personally know ones who do.

  11. I never was going to vote for McCain/Palin and Bristol could have septuplets and it wouldn't change the crucial issues of this campaign. I wish her all the best, a healthy baby, all good things.

My oldest son was conceived out of wedlock. We married when I was about 3 months along. We were 20. We celebrated our sixteenth anniversary Friday.

  12. Personally, I was born out of wedlock. My parents made the decision not to get married, and have been together 39 years, and still going strong.

People should leave Bristol alone, she's a young girl who has some difficult times ahead. I'm glad she has such a supportive family.

I don't think people should not vote for McCain / Palin because her daughter made a mistake, I think they should not vote for McCain / Palin because of their policies. Like Obama said, the family & children of the nominees should be off-limits.

  13. Thats because the Palins are conservative.  Its alright to get knocked up out of wedlock, unless the libs can use it to their advantage.  The libs are hypocrites.  Kids mess up, luckily, theres a little baby that will live over its mothers mistake.

  14. So true so true, right on.

  15. It doens't matter McCain showed good judgement in selecting Palin.

It seems a lot of people think it's bad judgement to hire a female if her 17 year old daughter is pregnant

  16. Your right!!

It still doesn't measure up to Obamas life long history of scandals and lies.  The church he attended was just awful.

  17. Not me, my mom was in her mid 20's.

  18. Because people (especially democrats) are complete idiots.

Your making a very smart choice in voting for McCain, it shows you have a brain. :)

    McCain 08'

  19. I was born out of wedlock.  I was 18 when I gave birth to my daughter.  So I have no problem with Bristol because I was in her shoes.

I say we leave her and the rest of the children of the candidates alone.

  20. I have no problem with Bristol.  s*x happens, and where there is s*x, there is a chance of pregnancy.  Everyone makes mistakes.  I am in no way judging her.  I had friends who got pregnant in their late teens, and I remained their friend.  My cousin got pregnant at 19, and gave birth when she was 20.  I love her and her son very much.  It has made her life very difficult, but she is a good mother, and her fiance is a good father.

I got pregnant when I was 23, unmarried, but co-habitating.  I had also been supporting myself since I was 19.  We had a baby, and got married-but not until she was almost 2 years old.  We got married, because we wanted to.  Not just because we have a child together, but because we love each other very, very much.

Our problem is with Sarah Palin, not Bristol.  She is openly anti-choice, and pro-abstinence only education.  Her daughter is an example of how ineffective it truly is.

And for the record, I never defended Jaime Lynn.  In all honesty, I don't give a rat's behind about her.  I don't care about celebrities and their lives.  What I care about are right wing politicians who may end up in the White House.

The other thing I have a problem with is her marrying the father simply because she is pregnant.  I am sure Sarah had plenty to do with that decision.  You should never ever get married because of a child.  You should always get married because you truly love the person, and are ready and willing to commit the rest of your life to them.

  21. I was 16 when my first son was born, I'm sure everyone knows someone who became pregnant before married, thats life.

  22. Your family certainly sound like Republicans, from what you've told us.  So, its no surprise that you'll be voting for the McCain/Palin duo.

  23. Hey,Hey,Hey, Don't try to justify this F-up, You didn't give Michelle the benefit of a doubt.

  24. Most of us were born out of wedlock or from the mailman hahaha.

If you don't believe me just ask your mom. hahha

Republicans and liberal were brought to this world in the same way. hehehhehehehhe.

  25. Why do the numbers have to be high? With all the current forms of birth control I think that if someone has an child out of wedlock, they are not too bright. And there is also a thing called abstinence, which is all that we had when I was young.

The reason that much is made of Bristol Palin is that her mother could someday be the president of the US. As such, she and her family will live under a microscope. Since Palin knew of her daughter's pregnancy, I find it bad judgment for her to have accepted the nomination knowing that her daughter would be subjected to so much criticism . I question her priorities.

  26. Sarah Palin fights for abstinence-only s*x-education policies in schools, and doesn't believe in birth control.  Her daughter is now the embodiment of the opposition's position that absitence-only education doesn't work, and that birth control should be made available to teens.  That is what makes Bristol different.  If the Palins had a problem with Bristol's pregnancy being dragged into the spotlight, Sarah Palin should not have accepted the VP nomination.  Regardless of the fact that it is tacky and wrong, American media does scrutinize political families and the public does hold them to a higher standard.  Sarah Palin is well aware of this, and made the descision to include her family in this election.

  27. Both of my sons were born before I was married. Now I am divorced and I have full custody of my children. I am a bit pissed that I only got $2.00 in child support for August. What's up with that? I will be voting Republican.

  28. Way more people ripped on Jamie Lynn. The media for the most part is saying this has nothing to do with politics and should not be used as an attack, and I think most people agree.

  29. It's different because she promotes teaching abstinence and family values but it's not working so maybe she should look into teaching prevention and s*x education. She's expected to set examples because she's supposed to be a role model since she's an elected official. She's running for VP... if something happens to McCain if they get elected, she will become the President.

When Jamie Lynn Spears got pregnant, people were after her saying that she wasn't a good role model and that she was way too young. People wanted her off her TV show.

  30. This is politics, pal. My family isn't running for public office and trying to show how perfect we are. When you decide to put your family under a nationwide microscope, better not have a pregnant teen! Eheehee!

  31. The issue here is not the 17 y/o. Do I need to say it again? It is about someone who pretends to have lofty morals, who does not even stay home with an infant child who has special needs. I am so deeply touched by this pathetic show of morals or family values or anything else for that matter.

The person was corrected for calling her family a "circus". I think in her case a "circus" would have been a complement. It would have indicated that she was running around in a hectic frenzy making sure her children were well cared for and felt loved and all was right in the world for them to the very best of her ability. No it is not the 17 y/o  that I have a problem with. It is her poor excuse for a mother.

She pops them out and leaves. Most animals take better care of their children.
