Question:

How many of you would go out on a limb and move out to a beautiful country home?

The town is about 350 people, and the closest city would be 55 miles away, there is some work in the small town which im thinking about moving too....

  1. If you are comfortable w/ the area, the economy is stable, why not?  55 miles isn't too terribly bad, as long as you don't have to commute it everyday or if you do, there is like a rail system or something in place.


  2. I wouldn't. I'm not willing to drive for an hour or more each way to do my basic errand-running, and it's unlikely that a town of 350 can support the businesses I frequent often.

    However, your mileage may vary. I'd certainly consider looking into the job situation thoroughly before committing.

    That said, I did just the thing you are talking about in 1980 and have never been happier.

  4. I'd go in a minute if I had a means to support myself there..!

  5. Does it have a rail line. If not then the answer is always no as you are cut off without a car and you must never rely on always being able to drive.

  6. I would - I've always wanted to live away from the suburbs!!

    Peace & quiet, no shopping malls, no traffic, wide open spaces ... sorry I'm rambling. But if you like the area then why not? You've already got a job lined up so all the best!
