How many of your children were "oops" babies?

My husband and I tried to have a baby for four years. We were told in Oct 2005 that he had 6% normal sperm because of the sperm head shape and that we'd never conceive naturally on our own. Things went down hill and we started divorce proceedings. The day before he was to move out on Feb 14, 2006 I tried one last test to make sure there were no lose ends. The one time I BELIEVED that I wouldn't be pregnant and I was. We only had intercourse once that month! Our daughter was born in Oct 2006. In Jan 2008, after having my period back for about 4 months, it was late again. I got a really odd feeling and tested twice, both negative. I finally waited another week after my period was due. It was positive. We're going to have a boy in Sept. How many of your babies were HAPPY oops babies? Just because you have an oops doesn't mean it's not happy or wanted. I just think I'm going to take precautions so I don't have anymore oopsies LOL.

  1. I have 4 oops babies.

One of my oopsies was from a 'lost' condom.

My other three were just 'lucky' I guess. My husband has low serum testosterone and an extremely low s*x drive, so we only have s*x two or three times a month... and I STILL got pregnant!

  2. Our 1st was (best surprise ever!)

B/c of that, I didn't think we would have any problems at all ttc our second.  I was wrong, I guess they just come along when they are meant to.  : )

  3. My last pregnancy was an oops.  We lost that baby just two days later.  What a wild ride of emotions.  I went from denial (on the pill) to upset (we had four kids, we wanted to be done) to acceptance, happiness, elation, to ultimately... devestation.

I decided it was a girl.  We privately celebrate her birthday (due date), every June 11th, just my husband and I.  No cake or flowers, just a few words and thoughts.

Sometimes I wish I never took that pregnancy test, other times I wonder if it doesn't make me further appreciate the family I have, having suffered heartbreak.

  4. I did not plan on any of my children, but I am happy that I have them and am having my third in November.

  5. i am a oops baby my mother told me i slipped under the gate

  6. Both of my sons were planned pregnancy but I was an opps baby and my mom and I are really close.

  7. I would be getting a DNA test done if i was him. Sounds like you just wanted a babycheck to go along with the divorce.

  8. My babies were all worked for but having twins was a kind of oops.  I was a happy oops baby.  My mom had a miscarriage and the doctor told her to wait a year before trying again.  She went back a month later to get birth control and they tested her to make sure she was not pregnant.  The doctor came in with the results of the test and told my mom that she did not follow his instructions and that she was pregnant with me. My mom still has problems following doctor's instructions.

  9. I don't understand.  You were going to divorce him because you guys couldn't have kids together?  Certainly there had to be deeper issues, which I hope you have worked out.

In my case, there is no oops.  Two of my friends had a kid that was a oops but a good surprise - one was her 3rd, the other her 2nd.  I'm just like whatever, grow up and get on some birth control.

  10. Yep I am an oops baby. The doctors told my mom shed never have babies. But look at me now

  11. I don't know if he is an Opps Baby or not, because I didn't give birth to him, but my eldest was the only one not planned.

We had no plans to adopted in the near future, I was pregnant with the guys on the left, and we had 2 toddlers already. Then my Godson, came back into our lives, and we filed for custody.

We have currently been granted 12 months Custodial Guardianship of our little boy, and happy to say he has settled down at home, without too much fuss.

He may have been my Opps Baby, but I am thankful he had the chance to be an opps Baby, not a statistic.

  12. My first son was an oops and I am so glad he was lol, He is now 16. I was only 15 but I am amazed everyday by him still! Good Luck and I hope things work out the best for your family. There is a great book for marriages called the 5 Languages of Love.

  13. Oops babies, born in homes with love and stability become WOW!!!!!! babies :)

  14. Our third son was an "oops".  It took only a short time to fall in love with the fact that we were having another baby even though we always said we only wanted two kids.  He is now 15 months old and I can't imagine our lives without him.  What a blessing in disguise!

  15. It's a shame that the fact your husband was unlikely to take his part in the conception of a child almost cost you your marriage, I would have been like, ok, I am good enough now?? In saying that - I am sure there was more to it than that, and who am I to judge. My wife and myself tried long and hard for 18 months, we had just started the process of fertility testing, when we found out that we were preganant with our now almost 2 year old boy. He certainly was not an oops Baby!! LadySci - don't sound so excited. By the way you comment, I am sure your child has a sucky life...

  16. Our first and only baby was planned, and if we ever have another one it will be an oops.

  17. I read somewhere that most babies are "oops" babies, not necessarily planned.  My first was sort of an oops; we tried for a couple months, then my husband decided to go back to school, putting a baby on the back burner, but that month I got pregnant.  My second was definitely an oops baby.  My third was an "I'd like to but doubt it will happen so let's not worry about it" baby.

I have a friend who conceived her first on her honeymoon.  None of her family members bought that story, however.  Her second one took 12 years of trying before conception.

I hope your two "oops" babies are happy ones (for you and your husband).  Congratulations and good health to all of you!

  18. all the best and be a happy family

  19. Yeah mine is.  I wasn't happy about it.

  20. I was on the pill for 2 years and ended up pregnant in Oct 2007. My husband and i are very proud parents of a beautiful little girl. Although she was not planned we would not change anything about how it happened!!

  21. well my son was kind of an oops baby....me and my 'now' hubby were trying to get pregnant for about 2 months then we decided that we would get married and just wait till we got through with college....well i went to the dr. to get on B.C and the dr. wanted to do a pregnancy blood test just to make sure befor he put me on it so i got the test done and called 2 hrs later thinking that i would get on B.C the next day well that was until the nurse said "ok your test is positive!!!!" ......LOL we were all flipping out..now we have a beautiful healthy baby boy who is 10months old!!!

  22. If I have any kids out there, they would certainly be "oops" babies.

  23. My third child, my daughter, was the best surprise I ever got in my life.  My boys were 18 months old and a newborn when my husband and I went away for a wedding - and I forgot my pills.  I figured I was only missing one pill, so it should be ok - even though we knew we were taking a risk.  Sure enough, I ended up pregnant - my last two are only 13 months apart.

She is just so special to us all!
