How many offspring do frogs have at a time?

  1. Frogs lay hundreds, if not thousands of eggs at one time.

    Most frogs them swim off, and do not take care of their young.

    So when the eggs hatch, most of the babies (tadpoles) are eaten by fish, or even dragon flies.  So out of hundreds or thousands of eggs, only a few, maybe 20 or so,  will actually live to be adults.

    There ARE some frogs and toads that tend their young.  These animals have fewer eggs, because the female (or male . . .) will protect them.
