  1. According to the API, there are an average of 1901 active rotary drilling rigs in the US. These are the types of drill rigs that can drill to the depths typically required for oil, several hundred to ~15000 feet (at $50-$100 per foot). Not all of these are going to be used by oil, some will be for water wells, construction, or mining but you get the idea.


  2. they need to drill more in the New England states area.Supposedly there is pleanty of oil but the rich snobs do not want to ruin the scenery.....waaa waaa =(.

    Come to Texas and you'll see pleanty of oil pumps going, that's why we only pay about $3.75 per gallon. =)
