How many opinions do you think it's reasonable to get before getting braces? Are orthodontists annoyed or offended by people seeking second, third or more opinions?

  1. I had three opinions, and I would definitely recommend that you get at least three so that you can be sure that you actually need treatment and also that you have all of the options offered and explained to you.

As for orthodontists getting offended, they never need to know! There is no reason why the first orthodontist should find out that you got a second opinion, and the second orthodontist isn't going to complain that you sought their advise too! Don't worry about offending. As awful as it sounds, getting the right treatment is far more important than the orthodontists feelings.
