How many other people have problems with presto valves?

I buy pumps and gauges and the connection doesn't work on many. Is there a trick to get the conection to work on finikey ones?

I work for a bike shop. There is a presta valve adapter that turns it into a schrader (american valve) it's about $1. It is really easy to use and you can even use it at the gas station pumps to fill up your tube.
