There are 16 ounces in a pound...however, some things measure differently!!!

For instance, grated cheese is 4 cups to a pound.  Now a cup is 8 ounces...so, do the math & it would seem that 4 cups would be 32 ounces and 32 ounces is 2 pounds.  

Confused?  Yeah, me too, but that's how it works.  If you specify what you are trying to measure, it would be helpful!
