How many ounces...?

How many ounces of 5% proof of alcohol would it take for someone to get drunk off it? How much to drink? And is the whole 5% proof thing based on like 8 ounces or 16 ounces or something?

The kind of alcohol I'm talking about is wine coolers and flavored Smirnoff drinks and Mikes Hard Lemonade.

Most beers contain around 5% alcohol and most wines 12%, while some spirits can contain up to 40%.

Most people burn-off alcohol at the same rate – about one standard drink every two hours. Some medical conditions or medicines can slow this rate down and produce higher than average blood alcohol levels after a few drinks. How often you drink doesn’t really affect the speed at which you absorb alcohol – weight and gender are more important factors. There are exceptions, but two drinks a day should not have any adverse affects on most adult men, while most women and older people can safely have one drink a day (taking ‘one drink’ as a 12 oz bottle of beer, a 5 oz glass of wine or a 1.5 oz shot of spirits). Some people shouldn’t drink at all because the risks are too great. These include anyone who plans to drive or do anything requiring alertness, co-ordination and balance, people with certain medical conditions, pregnant women (and women who plan to become pregnant), plus any one under the legal drinking age.

Women’s bodies contain a lower proportion of water than men’s, which means the same amount of alcohol has a greater impact on a woman than a man.

this really depends on your body mass and your metabolism.

some one who may be 120lbs could get drunk on 3 drinks where someone who is 220lbs could have 6 or more..everyone is differant..

It really depends on your size.  When i first started drinking I got drunk after 3 VEX coolers (7%).  Now it would probably take 5 or 6, because I have built up a higer tolerance.  Im 5'1 105 lbs.  That was a vodka cooler as well not a wine cooler.

About the Alcohol Slushies - I've heard that a can of frozen fruitopia blended with a splash of vodka (or your choice of alchohol) tastes great.
