Is it even liquids? By liquids, I mean shampoo-related stuff. Does deodorant count, too? I see a lot of people saying that you can bring 3 ounces. Is it 3 ounces total, or 3 ounces for each item? Is it even 3 ounces???

  1. Its three ounces per item.

And your liquids have to be in a plastic bag so that you can pull them out.

  2. 3-ounce containers or less.

You can bring as many containers as you want as long as they all fit *comfortably* into a quart sized, clear, ziploc bag.

Stick deodorant, chapstick, and lipstick don't have to be in there.  Lipgloss and gel deodorant and all other LIQUIDS, CREAMS, and GELS do have to be in the bag.

    *Remember 3-1-1

    3-oz containers or smaller

1 baggy for each 1 person.

Also, you can buy water bottles and other larger liquid stuff AFTER the security checkpoint and you ARE now allowed to take it on the airplane.  There was a period of time where you couldn't even do that.

P.S. If you have like 4-oz tube of toothpaste, but it's only half full, that won't work.  It's the size of the container NOT how much liquid you actually have.

  3. Yeah, that's right.  It's 3oz and all the 3oz bottles you have need to fit into a quart size baggy.

  4. deodorant doesn't count unless it is spray, or gel. they only allow stick. but just in case get the miny kind of deodorant. they don't allow gels or shaving cream, or airosal.and its 3 ounces each item.

  5. 3 oz for each item, but all items must fit in a quart size ziplock baggie... and you may only have one baggie per person

  6. All the answers here say you can't bring more than three ounces, but...

I have flown only twice this year, but each time I bought one of those 12 or 16 ounce plastic containers of water at the consession stand after you go through security.  I sip it, and just carry it on the plane with me.  I wasn't challenged.

Don't know if that's allowed, or if the authorities were just asleep at the wheel.

  7. the rule is for liquids, gels, lotions, so yes it would include:

    shampoo

    conditioner

    body wash

    tooth paste

    lotion

and if you use spray on, liquid roll on, or gel deodarent then that would be included as well. i know you can bring it and that it does count as a liquid because i use secret platinum which is a gel and i put mine in the baggie and i took it in my carry on.

    the rulle is 3-1-1.

meaning you can have as many 3 oz or less containers.(not 3oz or less product in a container the container has to be a 3oz or less sized container.)

put as many 3oz containers in a 1 quart clear plastic zip lock baggie as you can.

and you can only have 1 baggie per person in your carry on.

in your checked luggage you can have any amount of liquid in any size container the rule only applies to carry on bags.

also there are ecceptions to the rule.

if you have something that is more than 3oz you need to declare you have it and show the security person and if they deam it is an appropiate amount and product to take you can take it.

    this would include:

baby formula or juice or any drink.

over the counter meds like liquid motrin or like liquid imodium.

any presciption meds that are liquid.

but from experience if you aren't gonna need it on the plane don't take it in your carry on.

if its presciption meds then def do take it in your carry on in case of an emergency.

PS. "skipper8" just said he bought a bottle  of water after security at a conssession stand that is perfectly fine to do and you can bring it on the plane with you.

the rule is that you can't bring anything from home that is more than 3oz.

after you go thru security you can purchase anything you want at what ever number of ounces. as long as you buy it after you go thru security.

so you can't bring a bottle of water from home but after security you can buy one and bring it on the plane.

you can also buy such liquids in any number of ounces like lotiohns, shampoo, perfume. just as long as you buy it from the airport after going thru security.

so make sure you follow the 3 oz rule and don't bring any thing over 3 oz from home cuz it will get taken away.

  8. The 3 oz limit is total capacity of each container of liquid/gel.  Yes, deodorants made of gel or aerosol count too.

If you have a larger container with only a small amount of whatever (eg. shampoo) it will not be allowed.

    ----------

Air travelers may carry liquids, gels and aerosols in their carry-on bag when going through security checkpoints.

The following rules apply to all liquids, gels, and aerosols carried through security checkpoints.

    1. All liquids, gels and aerosols must be in three-ounce or smaller containers. Larger containers that are half-full or toothpaste tubes rolled up are not allowed. Each container must be three ounces or smaller.

    2. All liquids, gels and aerosols must be placed in a single, quart-size, zip-top, clear plastic bag. Gallon size bags or bags that are not zip-top such as fold-over sandwich bags are not allowed. Each traveler can use only one, quart-size, zip-top, clear plastic bag.

    3. Each traveler must remove their quart-sized plastic, zip-top bag from their carry-on and place it in a bin or on the conveyor belt for X-ray screening. X-raying separately will allow TSA security officers to more easily examine the declared items.
