  1. Since you already have 3-4 good outfits, I would only get about 3-4 more.  My suggestion as a teacher would be to only get clothes that she can play in, no really dressy things.  No open-toed shoes or dress shoes.  She needs to have comfortable clothing and shoes that she will not be afraid to get dirty.  Teachers appreciate so much more when a child is dressed for all of the activities that they will be engaged in that day.

  2. Get five bottoms (jeans, skirts, etc) and 10-15 tops so he or she can mix and match.

Why the thumbs down?  You can get extremely inexpensive clothes from children's place and their outlets as well...I have four boys and it works for me!

  3. When I was in kindergarten, I grew six inches in nine months. (and then stopped for good. haha.)

Right now, get her a few pairs of jeans/pants, a pair of shorts, a skirt, a few shirts (K-Mart, Wal-Mart, and Target have cute inexpensive tops that have characters on them) and two jackets/sweaters. And tennis shoes.

Then, in a few months, you'll have to get her more stuff because she'll have grown out of these.  :]

  4. She only needs 3-4 more outfits to start -- one cute outfit for the first day of school I feel is a given, and if it is still going to be hot, that can be a tee or short sleeve shirt with capris or a skort that should be on sale right now, that she can wear with a hoodie or cardigan when it gets cooler into September and October, again, depending upon where you live.

After that you can rotate in replacement pants and shirts when she outgrows or wears out the 3-4 older outfits just as the year progresses.

    Have fun!

  5. I am a mother to 4 girls. 3 are in school/preschool.

They wear most of their everyday clothes to school. I don't keep clothes that are stained or have holes. I mean stained bad enough to look bad. Some stuff has spots, etc.

To be honest. As long as she is neat looking and clean. That is good enough.

Teachers like a kid who can get a spot of paint on those jeans and not worry about it.

Buy a couple outfits to start out school fresh with.

We get 5 total. But they have their old clothes too.

I also always get a fresh backpack and pair of sneakers.

  6. well my mom says that i should have enuf clothes to wear for 2 weeks without repeating so scince she has 4 bottoms 6 more and 6 tops she can mix n match too and you can get adorable cheap clothes from the childrens place gymboree and places like that

  7. Well, I presume your child has clothes at the moment? Playing out ones? I would just put them in the normal clothes - you may find that easy to wash ones are best, as there will be paint, sand, muck - but I bet (s)he is into that already?

Unless they have to wear a uniform (if so 1 per day then wash them all at weekend, or 3 and wash continually if they are expensive), I would honestly not bother with new clothes!

  8. My son is starting kindergarten in a couple weeks.  I bought him a whole lot of new clothes because he needed some anyways.  All his jeans did not fit him anymore.  I think he just had a growth spurt recently.  He really needed a whole new wardrobe so I went to A.j. Wright and bought him about five or six outfits.  Then I went to WalMart and bought him about eight more outfits and two pairs of shoes.

  9. Get her maybe a weeks worth and a few extra tops that can be paired with her pants.

Warning!!!!! All those cute clothes might come home ruined, so try and stick with darker colors.
