  1. There are three power plays in an innings in an ODI.
-The first power play is the first ten over of the innings. In this powerplay, only 2 fielders are allowed outside the 30-yard circle.
-The second power play is 5-over long, and the captain of the fielding side will decide when to take this powerplay,so this one is usually called the "bowling powerplay".In this powerplay,3 men are allowed outside the 30-yard circle.
-The third powerplay is almost the same as the bowling powerplay, with only one change is that the captain of the batting side will decide when to take this.
The batting powerplay is a strategic move to up the run rate in ODI,because it's usually taken late in the innings. It's critical to take the batting powerplay at the right time, cause if you take it too early, you may lose wickets early, but if you take it too late, when all the recognized batsmen have gone,it would be very hard to score runs.An ideal time to take the batting powerplay is usually from the 42nd to the 47th over of the innings. In that first ODI,England left their batting powerplay to 43rd to 48th over, which is reasonably late.
