My very beloved Granddaddy died about a year and a half ago now. I have been in contact with the Veteran's Administration to ask how I can receive a certificate signed by the president thanking our family for Granddaddy's service in the Navy during World War II. He told me to fill out a specific form (which I have already done) and send that in with a copy of his discharge papers. I just am curious how long his discharge papers will be.

  1. The one's I have encountered in my work {and it is a job that requires verfication of military service} are usually only one page long, much like today's DD-214 discharge paper. That particular document spells out the highlights of a person's military career in a very concise manner.

  2. There are TWO pieces of paper.  One is the honorable discharge certificate which is just like a certificate that you might frame and hang on a wall, but the more important document is the Notice of Seperation that shows when he went in, when he got out, battles, awards, etc.  Sometimes these are on ONE piece of paper, one on each side, sometimes they are two seperate documents.
