How many pages do you read on average an hour?

i read only like 30 pages an hour, is that slow? i could read faster but i like to understand the book and not just skim through

i'm worried if that is little, around how many pages do you read an hour?

it depends. some books i can easily read about 100 pages an hour, mostly non fiction and really dense books where you don't have to read every word and rake in every detail. then there are some books that i just want to enjoy and read about 70 to 80 pages in an hour.

I was actually wondering the same thing.

I think if you get really into the book, maybe you may sink in the details and read over certain sentences to get the feel of the book, you're actually taking up more time. Which seems like a bad thing, unless people try impressing you by saying "I can read faster than you can" shows that 1. they're immature. 2. they prooobably can't recall half the details you would.

Maybe books that you're losing patience with you skim over quickly you finish faster.

I don't think 30 pages an hour is slow at all. I still read like that (especially for parts in books like "Our Town", plays we /had/ to read in high school but read over and over because they didn't make sense to us). I think taking your steady time to understand what you're reading and appreciating it makes it okay to read a little longer. I think the fastest I've read is about 50 pages an hour (I was awake from 2-7 this morning starting and finishing up a 270 page book) And I feel like it just flew past so I probably won't remember much of it in a few weeks, but I can't stand skimming pages as much as I do feel anxious when I want to finish up a book.

Learn to appreciate how slow you read, try not to think of it actually, focus more on the books. If it's actually getting in the way of reading papers over for work maybe? Try reading articles in the newspaper every couple days. It helps you adjust to text or just comprehending the words as you read, which speed up reading.
