Just wondering, how other families do things. I have 2 kids, and they usually each have 1 pair sneakers (yr round), 1 pair sandals ( summer),1 pair water shoes (summer), 1 pair of water resistant boots (fall/winter), 1 pair of snowboots (winter).

  1. Maybe im weird or it was the way I was raised, but a kid should only need 1 pair of sneakers, maybe 1 pair of dress and 1 pair of sandals [1 pair for cold depending on where you live-]

  2. about 3 pairs

  3. I have a 9 yo girl, 6 yo boy and an infant (who has no shoes yet!)

girl: 2pr runners - one for indoors at school only

          1 pr sandals

          3 pr flip-flops

          1 pr dress boots

          1 pr dress shoes

          1 pr winter boots

          1 pr rubber/rain boots

boy: 2pr runners - one for indoors at school only

           1 pr sandals

           1 pr flip flops

           1 pr dress shoes

           1 pr winter boots

           1 pr rubber/rain boots

  4. My son is 6.  He has 1 pair of sneakers (yr round). In summer, 1 sandals, 1 flip flip, on pair of crocs, which he wears most of the time, I could have done without the sandals this year.  In winter he has a pair of work boots and snow boots.  My girls are 15 and 10.  They both have 2 pair of sneakers (on for gym, one for casual, flip flops in a lot of colors (although I resist).  In winter they have a pair of Ugg boots, Ugg clogs, and snow boots.  The 15 yr old goes to private school, so she has school shoes, and sneakers for that.

  5. 2 pairs of shoes. I live in a desert we don't get much rain and don't have harsh winters so two pairs of shoes is suitable. my girls have a pair of sandals and a pair of sneakers.

  6. I have my Daughter fitted at Stride Rite and I get her one pair of good sneakers and one pair of sandals for Summer. Winter time we do one pair of sneakers and a pair of boots. Her feet grow fast so we usually go every other month for shoes. She doesn't like dress shoes.

  7. i'm 14 and i have about 3 pairs of flip flops [for summer] & 5 different pair of shoes [ school year] Then i have 3 pairs of uggs [for winter] i get a new pair every year. also cheerleading shoes.

When I was in elementary school i think i only have 2 pairs of sneakers to wear all school year and maybe 3 pairs of sandals for church and summer. & one pair of dress shoes all school year.

But when I was younger my parents didn't have as much money as they do now. [ But that doesn't mean I would've had more or less shoes now & then]

    yup. story of my life.

  8. My son usually has 2 pairs of tennis shoes and 2 pairs of sandals year round. One pair is usually dirty, wet or otherwise unwearable so it's handy to always have an extra set. We live in California and wear flip flops pretty much all year. Then he has a pair of water shoes in summer and warm shoes in rainy winter weather.

  9. i guess i am weird but when i was growing up i only had 2 pairs of shoes and i vowed to never let that happen to my kids. my 8 year old daughter has 5 sneakers, 4 dress shoes, 2 boots, 6 sandles/flip flops. and my sons all have at least 6 pairs of sneakers and 1 each dress shoes. and 3 each sandles

  10. My daughters are 4 1/2 and right now this is their shoe collection each:

    1 pair of tennis shoes

    2 pairs of Crocs

    1 pair of nice sandals

    1 pair of "play" sandals

    3 pairs of flip flops

    1 pair of "play" shoes

    1 pair of boots

    1 pair of dress shoes

  11. I tend to go overboard buying shoes for my niece. Her feet don't grow like normal children though and she has been in the same size shoe for about a year and a half now. She is almost 4. She has 4 pairs of tennis shoes, 6 pairs of croc type shoes, 5 pairs of sandals, 18 pairs of flip flops, 4 dress shoes, 1 rain boot, 3 snow boots, 2 dress boots and 3 pairs of slippers right now.

My nephew on the other hand has 2 pairs of tennis shoes, 2 pairs of crocs, and 3 pairs of sandals. He will also get a pair of snow boots when winter comes around. He is almost 2.

  12. Sounds pretty much like our house. Our daughter has a pair of black dress shoes and a pair of light pink ones (my mother in law buys anything that's pink!), 2 pairs of sandals (one for the beach and one for everyday), and a pair of rain boots.

Oh yeah, and MIL bought her some pink and green crocs last week....I hate them, but oh well. My little girl likes to dress up like mommy and Granny.

Kids grow out of shoes so fast that there really isn't much of a point in them having tons of them because next month you're just going to have to get a bigger size! Lol.

Haha. I forgot the tennis shoes. She has one cute pair that light up as she walks and have Dora on it. She doesn't wear them too often in the summer, but one the weather starts cooling off again she will.

  13. my 15 year old has 6 pairs of sneakers, 25 pairs of flip flops, 7 pairs of dress shoe, pairs of 11 flats <-- a bit of a shoe addict if I may say so myself, she pays for most of them though.

My 2 year old has 4 pairs of sneakers, 2 pairs of sandals,  3 pairs of dress shoes, and 1 pair of snow boots.

My 1 year old had 2 pairs of sandals, and one pair of sneakers.

  14. my daughter has two pairs of sneakers only because i wanted her to have atleast one pair of good shoes, and the other play. as for sandals my daughter has atleast 7 pairs of flip flops hehe she gets that from me i live in flip flops and she has one pair of snow shoes/boots.

  15. My kids each have one pair of tennis shoes and one pair of dress shoes all  year around.  They have one pair of sandals in summer and one pair of boots in winter.

There is no need to have a whole bunch of shoes.  I only have about 4-5 myself.  I go through my closet once a year, and if I haven't worn an item in that year, I give it away.
