Do you agree?

What does it say about our society?

Are you ashamed?

Why is it, that when you say a friendly hello to people on the street, some give you a dirty look, like you just kicked their dog?

  1. The Media have edited the BAD bits,

You have to read the whole article to see that their are good bits & bad bits, to this guide,

I see the have only mentioned England, would not want to upset the other countries of Britain, eh?

England is a Beautiful Country, most people in England are not like this, it's just that the Media are obsesed with Chavs & print more about this group of people than any other.

So we all get tared with the same brush.

  2. Haha. I totally agree.

Ohh, I found this statement about it on the Telegraph website.

"A spokesman for Visit Britain said: "People should not take these comments seriously. The comments demonstrate the quirkiness of the English personality that is so attractive to many visitors."""

  3. I think there is quite a lot of truth in what they say. I am a Franco-Scot but have lived for long periods in England. I am extremely fond of the country and of the people as well. But as with everywhere else, there is a huge mix and there are slobs and head-bangers to be found in most places. I LIKE the English 'reserve'. I find the hysterical enthusiasm and rush to a bosom buddy of some Americans a bit tiresome.

  4. I'm left thinking what does the article say about the spin Yahoo put on their news stories actually.

  5. Whilst I don't agree with all the matters raised, as a matter of course     any guide of this nature should highlight a particular country's bad points as well as the good. A one-sided guide is no use to anyone.

  6. This is a cunning ploy to deter annoying American tourists from visiting our island.

    Thumbs up from me.

Now all we need to do is deter the American influences that account for obesity and celeb-obsessed vacuousness and we'll be tip-top.

  7. Yes it is a sad indictment on our society.  I am ashamed to be british when i hear about loutish behaviour from brits abroad, people who get so drunk they have to have their kids taken into care whilst on holiday, people who abuse the locals, and get their fat  tattoed union jack wearing bodies sunburned because they are too stupid or too macho to wear sunscream......we live in a beautiful country, and we should be proud of the manners that have made us famous, our royal family, our generosity and sense of fair play.....but i think society is degenerating.  how sad.  teach your kids manners and respect!!!!!

  8. As long as it puts people off coming! It's too crowded now!

  9. A travel book is best written by a visitor to a country rather than a load of university educated liberals who have no belief or pride in their own country. You can guarantee that the French edition will be written by Francophiles or the Cuba edition will be written by a communist loving lovey!

This country is not perfect - but for the foreign visitor is there a better city in the world than London?
