im not too sure, i know there are three brothers who surf there, and they teach younger kids from north and south ireland how to surf. there might be a pretty good number

Sorry i don't have any facts or figures but I know of this site. discoverireland.com has some good info. just put surfing into the search on their website. you get heaps of surfing results just scroll thru and have a look.
