  1. On a regular jury, there is 12. on a grand jury, usually around 23 just so they can have back-ups in case something happens


  2. Rarely for some civil trials the number is sometimes cut from the traditional 12 to 9 or 6 depending on the county. Usually in counties that have really sparse populations and they do not have a large selection for the jury pools.
