  1. nobody with any intelligence whatsoever questions the mass of documentary evidence, plus the independent observations by everybody from the soviet union to ham radio operators.

  2. In the recent Mythbusters program, Adam Savage reported the number of believers in the Moon hoax theory as 20%.  He didn't say where he got that number.  It's a little suspicious, because that's the number given by many conspiracy authors, and none of them tells where they got it.

The only documented, controlled measurement that I know of is a Gallup poll in the 1990s that listed the number of hoax believers as 6%.  That's roughly five times fewer than the number of people who say they believe in ghosts.

The types of people vary, as has already been answered, from the casually interested to the religiously fanatical.  And there are a few like Bart Sibrel who likely make a substantial amount of money on promoting hoax beliefs.

  3. I don't get the channel Mythbusters is on, so I missed this, but I bet they had a lot of fun with it. The "evidence" of the hoax is so dumb, it would make a great show.

  4. i have never met anyone that believes the Moon landing was a hoax.  Personally, I am not sure there are any out there.

  5. I thought that there was a possibility it could have been faked when i read the reasons why people thought that it was but after seeing the Mythbusters episode I completely believe the moon landing was real. I think that they did a really good job of busting those myths!

  6. I think that people love conspiracy theories. If you have a plain, boring, steady life with minimum excitement, you jump at any opportunity to feel that bit more alive. And what's more exciting than being one of the few people who are in on a great cover-up secret? People with imagination know this and use this to get attention. And it works!

I don't believe that it was a hoax. I love knowing that someone has walked on the moon, and that some day maybe I will, too.

  7. It didn't happen. I'm living on Mars!

  8. my one proffeser told me that it was all a hoax and when they showed the american flag waving in space ,He said that couldnt happen in space.and it was just to beat the russians in the space race

i really dont know it thats true but its something to question

  9. People should look at badastronomy.com. It deals with all the questions people have and explains them. The flag issue was less about vacuum and more about the 1/6 gravity. Due to the weak gravity, the flag remained the way they arranged it. Under Earth's gracvity it would've hung down.

NASA mission control has dozens of guys working there, tracking the Apollo. The Soviets and European countries were tracking it also. There is no way that all these people have been tricked. There is no way all these people would stay quiet for so long.

People argue it was a hoax but never explain the other missions to the moon. There's a myth that aliens 'warned' Armstrong off the moon. We went back time and again.

  10. Unfortunately, the show probably wasn't even watched by the "moon-hoaxers", so I'm not sure if it had any effect on them. But it is clear that it did a great job showing everyone on Y!A's Astronomy and Space section that what we've been saying all along is correct, and now we have some great links to youtube videos demonstrating the points we've been arguing over and over again.

I have divided the moon-hoaxers into three categories:

Category 1: A simple moon-hoaxer. They rely on the "flag waving" theory, and the "multiple shadow" theory to support their argument. These moon-hoaxers lack any education on the moon landing, and have fallen helplessly victim to youtube videos. They are the easiest to argue against because you don't need to include much information. They generally go by anything anyone tells them, so if you bring up the laser reflectors, you pretty much have them. They aren't so ignorant as they are mislead.

Category 2: This is the *advanced* moon hoaxer. They have enough of an IQ to know that the flag argument and the shadow argument don't stand a chance against us, so they don't bother arguing about that. Instead, they provide links to stupid youtube videos that they think offer a "new approach" on the moon landings. Such as the idea that the videos were sped up, another common one is a supposed decal of Earth on the lunar module window. These questions are rarer... they usually hang around their own website. But every once in a while, these things come up and so we debunk them pretty easily. Its harder for me, because often times I don't even realize *what* they're trying to prove! When someone challenges their sacred youtube video, they retreat from yahoo answers and we vote for best answer ourselves. But if they get someone to agree with them, (usually a category 1 moon-hoaxer) then they choose that as best answer. These people are ignorant, and easily fooled by youtube videos... but they're too ignorant to listen to the *proof* we landed on the moon. They're hopeless.

Category 3: These moon-hoaxers are just insane. They usually look someone like this:

They rely on arguments like "the government is messed up so the moon landing must be faked!" to get their point across. Ignore the category 3's... they're just annoying.

The Mythbuster's moon landing program tackled mostly category 1 moon-hoaxers, but had a couple segments for the category 2's as well.

I've seen a couple parts of it online, and it looks, so far, like a very good program. Apparently, they went up to an observatory and shot a laser up at the laser reflectors left by Apollo-15, and they got the laser back... now that proves it without a shadow of a doubt. I just have to find that scene online. This program will definitely go on my moon-landing-was-real website.

EDIT: Ken E just showed me this great video that shows the category 3 moon-hoaxers:

  11. One question - if america faked the moon landings, Russia would most certainly have found out - they tracked the telemetry.

Do you really think the Russians would not have exposed the hoax at the height of the cold war?

America can't keep an affair with its president secret - do you really believe the thousands of people involved both in NASA and around the world could have kept that secret.

Claiming it was all a hoax is dishonouring the hard work of many brilliant men, the risks they took and the lives it cost.

  12. Only the most ridiculous-minded, dumbed-down people. They're probably mostly Obama voters.

  13. I'm too intelligent to believe that hogwash.

I suppose they also believe that the world is flat.
