Do I need to invite the others to join the group before I can start a group?

Nope, you first have to create a group, later you can invite people to your group. You do not have a limitation of number of the members that I know of.

Here is how you can start a new Yahoo Group:

1. Go to Yahoo!s homepage, from the left hand side list choose "groups"

2. when the pages comes, there is box which says "Easy as 1-2-3. Start your group today." Click on it.

3. Then you enter to your Yahoo mail address.

4. You have 3 steps to create your yahoo group, which are: Categorize, Describe and Select Profile

there is no limit to how many can join a group hoever there is a limit on how many invites you can send per day. you have to create a group first, if there's no URL, there's no site to click on :)

There is no set limit to the number of people that can join a group unless the owner closes it to new membership.  If they do this then anyone else that would like to join would need to have an invitation to get in to the group.

But for groups that have the set up where anyone can join (although some groups are moderated, and all new members must be approved) the number of members in the group can number in to the thousands.

One way to get more people to consider your group is to send out invites after you create your new group.  You can send up to 100 invites per day.

You can also let others know about your group by getting permission from owners of other groups to post the link to your group on their site.
