How many people choose to do gap year in yours countries?

In the United States, it is very uncommon. However, I now live in Germany, and many people (probably about 10%) take a gap year.

There are quite a few in England.

Some come to the UK as university students, some as aupairs and others just to travel. But then I live in London, so I'm not sure about the rest of the country. I know it's also true in Manchester and Taunton (South West England).

English people also do gap years quite often. Maybe one in every 5 people? They usually go travelling, e.g. for six months or a year.
