How many people did Napoleon kill by changing some of the world to drive on the right?

RHS driving = Right hand side driving. Most people are right handed and RHS driving forces people to drive with the left hand on the steering wheel when changing gear.

  1. Not everyone in Europe changed to driving on the right at the time of Napoleon....The UK and Italy for instance.....what about America they also drive on the right and never had anything to do with Napoleon...I dont think having to hold the wheel in the left hand for a fraction of a second has any bearing on road safety.....but an interesting question....

Here is a good link I found....

  2. Being right handed, I know that it is easier to change gears with my right hand. As to steering, I do most of my steering with the left hand in the wheel. My experience is that it actually works better drive on the right.

I am sure you will disagree, but that is your right.

  3. Of course using the left hand on the steering wheel is wrong and dangerous for most people. It is also dangerous for people to mount bikes in the traffic stream as they do in America Etc

Right hand driving was one of the world's biggest mistakes

  4. Thanks for that nice bit of trivia and I will take cars for $1000.

  5. I never knew that!

  6. Your constant rephrasing and repeated asking of this question is bordering on paranoia.

When are you going to realise that your one man campaign to convert the rest of the motoring population of this planet to your perception of what is the "correct" side to drive on is doomed to failure?

When in the UK, I drive a right-hand drive car on the left of the road.

When in Spain, I drive a left-hand drive car on the right of the road.

    No problem.

The minor difference in strength between your left and right hands, or indeed eyes, is of no consequence when driving.

I wonder what your attitude would have been if you had been raised in one of the majority of countries in the world where driving on the right is the norm?

  7. are you still bangin on about this clap trap?

if you cannot drive ambidextrously get a the bus!

but what if you put the change in you're left pocket and have a bag of shopping in you're left hand  is that someone Else's fault as well

don't blame other people for you're inadequacies

how many times  will we have to prove you wrong before you give up on this silly crusade

  8. None, Cars were not around in those days!

Also, I learnt to drive in the uk and I'm left handed and it didnt make me any more of a dangerous driver than a right handed person
