I am working on a project to build an entirely publicly funded boarding school in St. Louis, MO, and get it certified. We would be charging around $8000 base tuition and look to get 500 full paying students a year, but also give very many scholarships to underpriveleged/homeless/inner city kids across America and other exceptional students. But, before I get too far ahead of myself, how many people do you guys anticipate would be willing to donate. During our first phase of the project, there would be incentives for donations (i.e. naming benches, rooms buildings, etc.) after them, and then from phase 2 on we would be asking for money & new or gently used towels, TVs, computers, bedding, etc. to take care of the dorms. So do you think people would donate?

  1. I'm sure if you could come up with a good over view for this and why it would be a good idea. Like the way you would present it to a bank. Then I am sure you would get over 100 people to donate.  I just don't know if I like the idea of naming a room or something after someone who is donating.

Hope I have been of help and good luck it sounds like a great idea. =)

  2. How can you charge $8000 per year to educate, house and feed a child? Most boarding schoos charge $40,000 plus a year and have to subsidize that amount with their endowment.

If you are talkingabout buying land, building school buildings, furnishing them, etc......that is an enormous goal. You would need some very major donors, corporations are very wealthy people to get something like this off the ground. Small donations would not add up to enough.

So job one for you is to get some multi million dollar donors on the hook. ou would really have to have an interesting and unusual proposal to do that. Good luck!
